My Favourite Tools & Resources
As a small business owner myself, I know how easy it is to feel overwhelmed by all the tools and websites and resources out there. And the last thing you want is to have to try them all out for yourself. Well, I got you. I learned the hard way so you don’t have to. 😜
This is a collection of my own free resources, course recommendations, tools and products
to help you hit the ground running - all with an honest evaluation!

COACHING
The one thing I couldn’t live without
(aside from coffee, obviously ☕️)
I have spent so much money on online courses - and some I never even finished. But there is one resource that I could not live without in my business - and that’s Wandering Aimfully*.
Entrepreneurs and coaches Jason & Caroline Zook have built the most comprehensive resource I have every seen. It has dozens of on-demand trainings that are practical and actually useful, and there is monthly live coaching. Plus it has the most encouraging, diverse and welcoming community.
More than that Caroline & Jason are honest, practice what they preach and are not scared to be vulnerable about the ups AND downs of running your own business. And they really care.
HOWEVER, this is not for everyone. They don’t call it ‘Un-boring Business Coaching’ for nuthin’! You boring? It’s not for you. 😜 Check them out using the link below. I can genuinely 100% recommend joining and if you have ANY questions about Wandering Aimfully just drop me a line.
DESIGN TOOLS & ASSETS
Canva
Massively under-rated and under-estimated design tool. Powerful and easy to use but finding a well-designed template to use can sometimes take some time.
Screen Studio
Professional and simple-to-use screen recorder for macOS that lets you create professionally looking screen recordings & tutorial videos
Moyo Studio*
The most beautiful collection of mockups I have ever seen. Really high quality, versatile images. Also run by seriously lovely people.
Creative Market*
A great resource for buying all manner of design assets. Can be time consuming to find the perfect thing, but a great selection and reasonably priced.
Affinity
A brilliant and worthy competitor to some of Adobe’s products, with a one-time payment instead of subscription model. Really seem to listen to what their users want.
Envato*
Another great resource for buying design assets. The video template and royalty free music store is particularly impressive and has a great selection.
Figma
A free (currently) design tool that is very powerful and easy to use if you watch a few tutorials. Especially great for wireframing and prototyping, website and UI design.
Mockup Line
Another great resource I recently discovered for buying high quality mockups of all sorts.
Marketing & Web Tools*
There are literally hundreds of options for email marketing, domain hosting, website creation and all other online marketing tools. The few listed below are just the ones that I use, or have used, and can recommend. I am always happy to chat and will be very upfront about the pros and cons of each.
No tool is perfect - but don’t let that stop you. Commit to one for a period and use it to it’s max. You can always change, but changing too often can become a distraction from just getting things done.
My chosen email marketing platform - made especially for online creators. great functionality, well priced and great resources to learn and find support. The form and page builders are not the easiest to customize, but the ready made forms are brilliant.
Another email marketing platform I recommend. Definitely the one that has the most beautiful forms and email templates, and the easiest to customize to look great. But still lacking some of the analytics and segmentations functionality of ConvertKit.
My chosen website platform - incredibly easy to get up and running and create a beautiful site. Constantly evolving and adding new tools to make it easier to use and work with. By far the most use r friendly, and have incredible customer service.
Probably the most powerful e-commerce platform out there. Can be a little ‘hard-sell’ focussed, but great to help with up-sells, cross sells and other e-commerce functions that can future proof your business online. No build in email marketing functionality.
My Video & Tech Tools*
Take Your Video & Photo skills to the Next Level
One of my favourite places to buy the best gear for high quality video, photography and audio is MOMENT. I love their ethos and I love that they are all people who really are passionate about what they do. They also have really reasonably priced classes by some of the best people in their industry to help you level up your skills - whether it’s iPhone photography or video editing or anything in between. Oh - and they also have bucket-list worthy travel packages which I sooooo wanna go on. 😎
Course Creation Platforms
Having built dozens of online courses over the last couple of years, I have worked with pretty much every course creation platform and I can tell you there is no perfect solution. The key is finding one that balances what you need, what you can afford, and what works for you - and just get creating.
The three below are the ones I know best and can recommend. But they have their pros and cons too - so check out my evaluation of each and then try them out to see what works for YOU.
Kajabi*
-
Anyone wanting a fully comprehensive online course (and email marketing) platform.
-
Your one-stop-solution. Brilliant online course builder, sales page builder, email marketing, coaching program - all in one tool.
-
Can be expensive once you hit the big numbers of students or courses.
Teachery*
-
Anyone wanting a robust online course platform that puts you in control.
-
Gives you complete control over everything from design to where you host your videos. Also run by the nicest people in the world offering the best support.
-
Because it is so customizable, sometimes it’s not as easy to design in without some CSS knowledge. But the ready-made templates are great and have detailed instructions.
SamCart*
-
Anyone wanting a simle course platform without lost of design options. Also come with SamCart’s e-commerce support built in.
-
Really easy to use and get something up and running in minutes. Great hlp articles and training, and obv has SamCart’s functionality to optimise sales and conversion.
-
Can be a little basic on the design side, and SamCart does seem to be ‘hard-sell’ focussed.
